Celebrate National Foster Care Month With RISE Oregon

May is National Foster Care Month, and at RISE Services, Inc. Oregon, we recognize the challenges faced by children and youth in foster care while celebrating the positive impact foster parents have on their lives. Let’s explore the impact of foster care and how becoming a Host Home foster parent to children and youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) can transform lives.

RISE Services Inc Oregon National Foster Care Month

The Importance of Foster Care in Oregon

Foster care is designed to provide safety, stability, support, and hope for children and youth facing difficult situations at home. In Oregon alone, an average of 165 children enter foster care each month.

For children with IDD, the need for a foster home is even greater. An estimated 20-60% of foster youth entering care in Oregon live with a developmental disability.

RISE Oregon’s Host Home Program

At the heart of fostering lies connection, and at RISE Services, Inc. Oregon, our Host Home program takes an individualized approach to creating meaningful relationships for foster youth. Recognizing the uniqueness of every child, we match them thoughtfully with Host Home parents whose personalities, skills, and family dynamics align with the child’s needs and goals. This fosters long-term stability, healing, and growth.

Since launching in 2021, RISE Services, Inc. Oregon’s Host Home program has successfully supported 19 youth. We continue expanding efforts so every child has the opportunities they deserve.
