Thanksgiving is known for roasted turkey, pumpkin pie, and family gatherings, but it’s also a great time of year to reflect on all for which we are grateful. RISE Services, Inc. Oregon is more than thankful for our Host Home parents and families. Every child with an intellectual or developmental disability deserves to be with a caring family during the holidays, and our Host Home families do their part to make this happen.
Gratitude for Our Host Homes
Host Home parents provide more than a comfortable bed, good food, and a warm place to live. They open their hearts and homes to children and adolescents who cannot safely live with their biological families, offering them love and stability. Foster children who have experienced trauma need emotional support, long-term stability, and unconditional love. The best place for them to receive this and much more is in one of RISE Services, Inc., Oregon’s loving and caring Host Homes.
What Our Host Homes Offer
Foster parents have a tremendous responsibility when caring for children with exceptional needs. Many go above and beyond by helping children grow and thrive while in their care. In addition to opening their homes and creating a safe and welcoming environment, our Host Home families also provide:
- Healthy spaces where foster children can learn, grow, and thrive at school and with friends
- Environments in which they can observe and learn how to handle family conflict in healthy ways
- Consistency and compassion as they help adolescents work through trauma they may have experienced
- Professionally trained and licensed host home parents who are patient, understanding, and generous
- Typical childhood experiences such as birthday parties, family game nights, and help with homework
