Roadmap to Becoming a Host Home Foster Parent with RISE

Did you know that over 4,500 Oregon youth are currently in foster care? In addition, there is a high rate of youth with autism and developmental disabilities in foster care — up to five times greater than Oregon’s general population. RISE Services, Inc. Oregon helps meet this great need by licensing host homes that specifically provide safe and supportive family settings for youth and children with additional needs. With our roadmap to becoming a Host Home, caring Oregon families can provide safe homes for youth and children with intellectual or developmental disabilities, medical needs, or behavioral diagnoses.

Roadmap to Becoming a Host Home with RISE

Addressing the Critical Need for Host Homes in Oregon

Our roadmap to becoming a Host Home walks applicants through five steps, each building on the other, toward becoming licensed as an Oregon host home. Each step is explained below.

Meet the Minimum Requirements for Licensing

The state of Oregon stipulates that all host home applicants meet the minimum requirements below:

    • Financial stability and reliable transportation
    • Good physical and mental health
    • Ability to work as a team with RISE Services, Inc. Idaho, the child’s biological family, and other service providers
